Looks Like DarkGift May Be Out...

I've tried emailing him a few times in the last few weeks. All emails are bouncing back to me. This is rather unfortunate, as his Command and Battle skills will be missed in our triumphs!

He recently got married, with a woman from Brazil, who I am sure, must have gone through a lot of paper work and red tape to come to the States. Anyway, it seems DarkGift is now occupied with other facets of life, and has little interest in pursuing endeavors in a new Mechwarrior game.

Mike, Dark and I talked mostly about non-gaming issues. His marriage, a recent vacation, and some new hobbies that he is in to. Dark and I talked briefly about gaming. As most of us know, Dark is a man of great commitment. And, with this, has very little time for hardcore, online gaming. I am not sure if he will come and play the next generation of Mechwarrior. And, while I would love to have him playing MW with us, for his brilliance and skill, I care more that I am able to speak with him from time to time. He is a person who's opinions I respect GREATLY! A person that I genuinely consider my friend.

Honestly, I think this does bring up an issue. How much time do alot of us have anymore?

I mean, I think that there were very few more dedicated to mech tham me. However, I'm also married now, own a house, possibly going to be a father within the year and am wanting to get back into R/C planes again. While I will be here for this unit when LL starts, it wont be like it was in years past. This does need to be taken into account when we begin to look at starting a unit again. Many of us do have more responsibility now.

Totally agreed, Tib. I, for one, plan to go FULL BORE on this.

One of the things that can be done is to have several tiers of commitment level. Max Level at Leadership Level. Medium Level for pilots. Low Level for those who can carry their own weight on the battlefield, but do not have time that others may have.

I understand that concessions will be made for those with RL commitments that do not allow them to be online as much as others. This can be worked through, provided that EVERYONE understand the TEAM CONCEPT... The good of the many outweigh the good of the few or one.

We anticipate 16 v 16 drops. If we have a drop of 12 pilots who are exceptional and 4 of pilots who, because of RL, may not have perfected their skill, The 12 combined with the 4 will in most cases bring victory. However, there may be drops where the BEST of the BEST drop. I would gladly give up my spot on any drop, if it meant a better success rate.

Yeah, and we likely wont be using all mechs this time. As we all have seen, there will be tanks, infantry, aircraft ........

Oh YEAH!!!! Full tactical planning! The challenge will surely be there. With respect to all of our times, I hope everyone is up to this challenge that will face us. Dedication! Teamwork! And, most of all, persaverence (sp?) will see us through.
